Hiring Programme

The class is only available on certain Fridays and must be booked well in advance as sessions book up quickly

The facility is available to hire for teacher training sessions after school. Please phone for more details.

Hire of the building (No Teacher)

Morning or Afternoon £60

Whole Day £100

Included in the hire:

  • Use of building and facilities
  • Waterproof clothing and boots
  • Toilets facilities including disabled access
  • H&S introduction from school staff
  • School staff at hand (for advice and emergencies, not to lead or support)

Hire of the building and a teacher led programme (This includes two members of teaching staff)

The Activities

Watling

  • Children will learn the ancient craft of Watling to build a fence (that will be put to the test). We can discuss invention and technology as well as problem solving.

Spinning

  • Children will learn the ancient craft of spinning and weaving. The children will learn how to spin wool into yarn and then see how that can be weaved into rope and cloth.

Rockets

  • Children will learn how to take a very basic design and modify it to make a fabulous rocket. An excellent activity for team building and problem solving.

Classification of Animals

  • This activity provides an opportunity for children to explore their prior knowledge of animals and how we classify animals. The children will collect evidence of the animals that we have in our environment.

Tree Dressing

  • Inspired by the Celts we will look at trees as objects of worship. Using materials found and made we will create a tree cathedral in the woods.

Clotie Making

  • Inspired by the Celts we will look at trees as objects of worship and magical places. Using materials found and made we will create a tree cloties that we can either place on a wishing trees or can be taken back to school to create your own wishing tree.

Mini Beast Hunting

  • The children will explore the environment in search of mini beasts. We will look at habitats and how we can categorise mini beasts.

Creative Creatures

  • This activity provides an opportunity for children to explore their prior knowledge of animals and how we classify animals. The children will look at the questions we use to classify animals and how that relates to some unclassified mythical creatures.

Gnomes and Fairy Homes

  • The children will look at habitats and how creature’s homes deal with the elements. They will try to create a home, using the natural materials around them to create a perfect home for the fairies and gnomes that we have in our environment.

Tree Identification

  • The children will explore their environment and look at how to identify different trees.

Seed Distribution

  • Using a variety of tests the children will explore the best method for seed distribution.

Bird Spotting

  • The children will consider the features of birds and how best to use this knowledge to get closer to the birds. They will create a hide and look a spotting the variety of British birds that visit our grounds

Snail Mapping

  • Children will explore the nature of mini beast and how they navigate their way around. We will look at how snails navigate their way around the mazes we will make.
