British Birds

In the Outside Classroom

Every year the outside classroom get involved in The Big Bird watch for the RSPB in February. To enable the birds to be identified the children need to use their previous learning to distinguish different species. To recap we had a spot the difference activity that also required the children to expand on their answers by giving explanations for them.

Which bird was the predator?

How did you know this?

Can you identify where different birds are in the food chain?

The children were then challenged to decide on their own what equipment they would need to find, identify and record.

What equipment did you use?

Did you decide wisely?
