Healthy Activities

We all know the importance of exercise and how it can promote good health and wellbeing. Some of these activities were aimed to push their bodies a little bit more than they probably would usually do, some activities showed them that playing games can also be healthy for them.

Welly Wanging is one of the firm favourites with the children. They throw a welly as far as they can and the furthest distance is the winner.

What muscles are used?

Ball Games were played in teams. We had under/over, beat the ball, double ball cross over and tick-tack. These games involved using various parts of the body.

Can you name three parts of the body you used?

Which internal parts of the body did you use?

H.I.T.  High Intensity Training involves shorts bursts of exercise followed by 5 minutes of rest.

How did this make you feel?

Walking around the grounds in lots of different ways such as going backwards, sideways, jumping and walking.

How many ways did you make this activity interesting and fun?

Circuit Training included the plank challenge ‘holding the plank position for the longest time’ and the speed bounce ‘jumping the quickest over an obstacle’

Why is this sort of training good for you?

Hopefully this session has given you ideas of how to exercise and have fun at the same time.

Challenge yourself and possibly others to try these activities and let us know how you get on.
