Listen, Think, Learn & Enjoy . . .

It’s that time of year again when we start planting our seeds for our vegetable beds. We will begin with planting them in pots to keep on the window sills.

First the children watched a video all about germination.

Can you explain germination?

At which crucial moment can you say the seed has germinated?

Why do we not put them straight into the soil outside at this time of year?

We were lucky enough this year to have some seeds donated to us from a member of the Purbrook Horticultural Society, whom we share our information and enthusiasm with. We also have runner beans from last year’s crop as well as a variety of other seeds.

Would you be able to explain the instructions on how to plant your seed?

What equipment did you use?

Can you name at least 4 vegetables we are going to plant for this year?

How long do we need to wait until we are able to put the plants outside?
