Year 5 Football Tournament

Warren Park entered two sides into the Year Five football tournament and both performed extremely well against some challenging opposition. Week One was incredibly tough and despite some excellent performances, highlighted by a 6-0 thrashing of Springwood, Warren Park found themselves just missing out on a medal, finishing 4th. Week Two’s tournament was a very different kettle of fish as Warren Park showed prowess at both ends of the field. Aside from a frustrating loss to eventual winners, Trosnant Junior, Warren Park excelled. Aggressive attacking play and sensible defending lead Warren Park to a comfortable second place and the SILVER MEDAL!

Everyone should be very proud of themselves.

Warren Park ‘A’

In what turned out to be a very close league indeed, Warren Park held their nerve to see off the challenge of Herne, Denmead and Morelands.

Herne and Morelands finished 3rd and 4th with 11 points each while Warren Park and Denmead finished tied on 13 points! Both Warren and Denmead had the same goal difference: +4 and they had both won the same amount of games! Fortunately for Warren, they had been lethal in front of goal and had scored far more goals than their challengers meaning they were the CHAMPIONS!!!

An excellent effort from all the boys who can be very proud of themselves. 🙂

Warren Park ‘B’

Warren Park were certainly the underdogs in this division and had to battle hard as they were missing players in the early matches of the tournament.

Despite the strong opposition, Warren fought valiantly and continued to pick up points. Finally, with 3 games on the final night, they finished unbeaten and grabbed a crucial win against the team sitting in 1st place! Warren missed out on the medal they deserved but they can all hold their heads up high! Super stuff boys!

Tournament Week 2

Warren Park A Drew 1-1

Warren Park A Won 3-1

Warren started sloppily and conceded within seconds of their first match. From this point on, it was a different story as Warren controlled proceedings throughout both matches. George helped himself to four goals across the night, including a hat-trick in game two. If they continue this form, they could well be helping themselves to a gold medal!

Warren Park B Lost 0-1

Warren Park B Lost 0-2

Warren worked hard throughout and were the better team for large proportions of the evening. They created many chances but unfortunately fell foul to some defensive errors and wasteful finishing. If they continue to attacking in this manner, a win cannot be far from their grasp.

Great work guys!

Tournament Week 1

Warren Park A 1-0 Padnell

Warren Park A 0-0 QI

Warren Park began in total control of their first fixture but struggled to break down a resolute Padnell side. It wasn’t until the second half when George won a free-kick that Warren took the lead. Reggie thumped the ball directly from the free-kick into the top corner to give Warren the win.

Unfortunately Warren could not follow this win up as they missed chance after chance. Stanley led the line well and linked up with George and Reggie in midfield but to no avail. Ben and Ricardo were resolute throughout and never allowed Queens Inclosure a moment to breath. With Landon backing them up, the defence never looked like giving up a goal but Warren simply could not break the dead lock.

Warren Park B 0-1 Springwood

Warren Park B 0-0 Morelands

Warren Park defended stoutly throughout the game and some excellent counter attacking from Riley almost got them the victory. Unfortunately, a wonderful solo goal from Springwood sealed the victory for them.

Warren Park continued to defend fabulously with AJ and Lewis looking particularly strong at the back. Mason linked up well with Charlie in the midfield but they could not break down Morelands. A 0-0 draw was a fair result in the end.
