PE Kit Guidelines

To help ensure a smooth and active PE experience, we kindly ask that children come to school dressed in their PE kit on designated PE days.

The PE kit should include:

A plain white polo shirt or t-shirt

Shorts or tracksuit bottoms in blue, grey, or black

Warren Park sweatshirts or cardigans may be worn over the top if needed

Trainers or plimsolls (not school shoes)

Please avoid:

Football kits

Bottoms in colours other than blue, grey, or black

Clothing with logos, motifs, or brand labels

We do have spare PE kit available in school for any child who arrives without appropriate clothing.

Jewellery Reminder

For safety reasons, earrings should not be worn on PE days. If your child has recently had their ears pierced, please ensure they are covered with surgical tape. Only small stud earrings are permitted in school at any time—hoops, sleepers, or dangly earrings are not allowed.

Reading at Home and in School

At Warren Park, we believe that reading is the key that unlocks every part of the curriculum—and we’re passionate about helping every child become a confident, enthusiastic reader.

In Year 3, we’ll be reading with your child every day, whether one-to-one, in small groups, or as a whole class. We’ll also be setting fun reading challenges and spending time enjoying books simply for the joy of it!

To support this journey, we kindly ask for your help at home. Our school’s reading policy encourages all children to read with an adult at least three times a week. Just a few pages, followed by a chat about what they’ve read, can make a big difference to their understanding and confidence.

Please ensure your child brings their reading record to school every day. We’ll check and celebrate their weekly reads every Friday, with rewards and recognition for their efforts. Children who haven’t had the chance to read at home will be warmly welcomed to our Reading Club during playtime, where they can enjoy some quiet reading time with us.

A quick reminder: lost books or reading records may incur a replacement charge.

By working together, we can make sure your child makes fantastic progress and develops a lifelong love of reading. Thank you for your continued support!

Times Tables Practice

Building confidence with times tables is a big focus in Year 3, and we’re here to make it fun and rewarding!

Each child has a Times Tables Record Book to help track their practice at home. Inside, you’ll find helpful tips and ideas for making practice enjoyable and effective. We encourage children to practise at least three times a week and bring their record book to school every day. On Fridays, we’ll celebrate their efforts and progress together!

In class, we’ve set up a special Times Tables Tray filled with engaging activities, games, and worksheets that children can choose from whenever they’d like some extra practice. They can also log in to Times Tables Rockstars at home using their Wonde login—another fun way to build speed and accuracy.

With your support at home and our encouragement in school, we’re confident your child will make fantastic progress. Let’s make times tables a positive and empowering part of their learning journey!

Working Together for a Positive Year in Year 3

We’re so excited to be starting this new chapter with your child as they begin their journey into the juniors. Year 3 is a time of growing independence, and we’ll be supporting the children every step of the way—from promoting remembering their reading records, or taking responsibility for their belongings. We’d love your support in encouraging these small but important steps at home too!

Celebrating Positive Behaviour

At Warren Park, we believe in recognising and celebrating great behaviour. In our classrooms, we use a zone board to help children reflect on their choices throughout the day. Those who finish the day at the top, earn credits towards exciting educational rewards—something the children really enjoy working towards!

Of course, we understand that everyone has off days. If a child finishes at the bottom of the board, they may be asked to spend a short time reflecting during break the following day. This is always handled with care and kindness, in line with our school behaviour policy.

Start and End of the Day

To help keep our school community safe and organised:

Morning gates open at 8:40am, and classroom doors open at 8:45am

Afternoon gates open at 3:05pm, with classroom doors opening at 3:15pm We kindly ask that parents wait until the gates are officially opened before entering the site.

Staying in Touch

We’re really looking forward to working closely with you this year to help your child thrive. While we’ll always do our best to answer quick questions at drop-off and pick-up, there may be times when we’re unable to chat in detail. Mrs Jennings will be in school Monday to Wednesday and Mrs Patterson Thursday – Friday. If you ever need to speak with us, please don’t hesitate to get in touch via the office—we’re always happy to help.

Thank you,

The Year Three Crew.
